CHICAGO, Ill. — Public Narrative is excited to announce additional winners and finalists of the 28th Annual Community Media Awards.

Following the announcement of the Studs Terkel winners, the Uplifting Voices and the Ripple Effect Awards winners have also been selected.

“These awards help provide a well-rounded acknowledgment of community journalists whose work has influenced our city in different ways,” says Public Narrative president and executive director Jhmira Alexander.

“As journalists’ approaches to journalism continue to evolve, so will how we recognize them in future awards.”

Since 2014, the Uplifting Voices Award has honored an individual journalist or changemaker who elevates the voices of people in Chicago communities. Past winners include Shermann “Dilla” Thomas, Aurie Pennick and Tonika Lewis-Johnson.

The winner of the 2023 Ripple Effect Award is:

  • Craig Dellimore, WBBM Newsradio
